Help Us

We are Non-Profit

The Cambridge and District Humane Society of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada is a non-profit organization and dependent on the generosity of the community it serves. For this reason we ask individuals and groups of our community to support us. This page is amended on a regular basis to reflect our needs at a given time. Please come back regularly to check for changes. We hope that you will help with our endeavor. If you are supporting us presently, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you.

The Cambridge and District Humane Society does not receive any funds
from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).

Introducing our 1st Calendar - ON SALE NOW!2010 Calendar
The calendar is available for sale here at the shelter and at John Mitchell Photography (King Street, Preston) for $20.00.  You may also order on-line, or design your own using the calendar builder by clicking here, with proceeds being donated to the CDHS. Special thanks goes out to Rick Warner of micalendar, and John Mitchell Photography for all being part in the launch of the very first Cambridge & District Humane Society Calendar 2010.  We are hoping for a very successful year.  The photos shown in the calendar are taken from last year's "Furry Friends Foto Fun" fundraiser ran by John Mitchell.

Become a Member
One of the ways The Cambridge and District Humane Society supports itself is through membership. Annual membership fees are $40.00. Presently, the Cambridge and District Humane Society has about 100 members, which, considering that Cambridge has approximately 102,000 residents, is extremely low. We invite any one interested in becoming a member to contact us.

Introducing NEW KURANDA CAT BEDS! We currently have four of these wonderful new beds ordered for our cats here at the shelter. Zehrs Tapes & Newspapers
Please bring us your Zehrs cash register receipts, and old newspapers. Zehrs  generously give us 0.1% of all receipts we return to them.  All newspapers can be deposited in to our Abitibi bins at the front of our building, which also brings us in much needed funds.

Volunteers
Without a doubt, the Cambridge and District Humane Society would not exist without volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us. If you are presently or have been a volunteer for our organization in the past, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kindness.

Help the Animals Through the United Way
If you participate in your employer's annual United Way campaign through payroll deduction, you may choose to designate the Cambridge & District Humane Society as the recipient of your charitable contribution, even though the CDHS is not a United Way funded agency.
Simply fill in Part "C" at the bottom of the gift form with the CDHS registered charity number 13682 8522 RR0001.

Legacies & Bequests
Legacies are vital to the work of the Cambridge & District Humane Society.
The CDHS relies entirely on the generosity of the public to promote and implement the mission statement and beliefs of the CDHS, so please remember your gift for the animals when planning your estate.  Keep in mind the tax advantages of donating shares in public companies.
If you would like to assure the future work of the CDHS through a provision in your will, this general wording is suggested.
"I give, devise and bequeath to the Cambridge & District Humane Society for the work they do with animals the sum of $_______ and/or specifically described property."
We suggest you discuss such provisions with your attorney.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the work of the CDHS.
